TIMBER
Over the summer months i've gotten stuck into a handful of timber projects that i've been tinkering around with over the last year. With the help of my brother-in-law Mick, we finalized a couple of chambered Paulownia designs finished only with natural tung oil! A lot of blood sweat and tears went into whittling these sticks but totally worth it now we have them finished...

LOVE TIPH X
Lately here at Hightide surfboards we have been fortunate enough to get a helping hand on the design front from Tiphaine De Fleurette. Here's a few pieces she has been working on over summer, amazing!

BACK.TO.WORK. - NOVEMBER 2011
Settling back into the shaping bay I took the opportunity to get my eye in on a couple of new designs i'd been thinking about over my time away. The end result was a 5ft twin fin fish and a 6’3’’ 90s style thruster short board. Not long after the two new sticks were cured the waves turned on providing the perfect platform for some testing.

AUSTRALIA!!! - OCTOBER 2011
After flying from Hanoi to Singapore to brisbaine I spent a couple of weeks surfing, catching up with mates and working my way down the east coast of Australia towards my home in Victoria. Passing through the sunshine state in mid spring the surf was seasonally small, but I managed to have a handful of sneaky sessions at tee tree and snapper rocks while catching up with mates and easing back into the swing of life back in Australia. Continuing south I stopped off at my sisters place at Arrawarra to catch up with Yans, Mick and my new little niece Noa. Hanging out for a week, mick and I lucked in to a super fun session at the point before I made my way back to Victoria and home...

CAMBODIA - JUNE 2011
By the time Jimmy and I had made it through Loas into Cambodia it had been more than a couple of weeks out of the water and we both had an itch for waves. After an unsuccessful exploration of the beaches down south, we made our way to Cambodia's spiritual home land Siem Reap. After a long day marveling at the ancent carvings and stone temples of Ankor Wat, Jimmy and I were unwinding with a quiet beer and a couple of games of pool when we noticed a picture on the wall of a beautiful halfpipe being welded together. Turns out the ramp was on the roof three stories up, so we organize to skate it the following day. Arriving in the mid day sun I handed over $5us, signed one of the most indecent medical disclaimers ive ever seen I was handed over a board and pads. The 8ft steel half pipe was the perfect play ground for the afternoon and exactly what the doctor ordered to stave of no surf depression!
