Noosa Fest 2011

Although the cyclone swells that the Noosa Festival of Surfing is famous for ceased to pulse down the points like the couple of years prior the vibe was good and the stoke was still high. The grommets chalked up some great results across the board with Jake making his way through to the semi-finals of the junior division, Oscar placing second and Erin taking out the junior women’s, the open amateur women’s and the open amateur SUP.
After a string of placing over previous festivals I was stoked to finally take out the amateur division and equally as stoked to place third in the first ever finless pro event … looks I will have to try my luck in the Pro division next year, might have get off the nose and spend some more time over the fins… yew!
Just a couple of boards for roady up to the festival

Nice work Oscar

Congratulations to local Vicco shredder and junior team rider, Oscar Lalor for an awesome effort this year making the semi finals at both the Noosa Festival and Malfunction, taking out the Vic junior title, and finishing the season off by winning the junior division with the Surf Coast Longboard club. It's been really rewarding working on  Oscar's boards and watching him progress on every new design. Here's a sneak peak at his new Dave Boyd inspired quad fin performance longboard for summer.
Watch out for this kid on the competition scene in the years to come!

BLUE surf magazine Japan

Earlier this year I caught up with Japanese surf culture magazine, "Blue" and spent a morning hanging out with the guys in the workshop. Its always great to meet other surfers from different parts of the globe. Heres a little article they put together for their 24th issue.

A winter to remember!

Over the last couple of months ive been making the most of the stella winter conditions here in victoria taking plenty of trips back along the great ocean road to haunt some of my old stomping grounds, share some waves with mates and test out a few new sticks. The surf coast winter classic

The 2010 winter classic lived up to its name with rain, icy water and fresh westerly winds all weekend. The Bevan boys made their way down from Sydney with Cronulla shaper Sam Tehan to pick up their new sticks and share a few cold water peelers. Both Jake and Oscar put up a good show in the juniors placing second and third and Justin put his new Gary Proper model Hobie into action taking out the old mal .I was stoked to finally take out the open and back it up with a win in the traditional division.
